Finished projects and thrift stores

I’ve spent the entire week working on the “The Lady of The House Of Love” shadow box. I finally finished it today but it was so late that I was unable to take any pictures. Since I’m leaving to San Diego tomorrow morning I will have to take pictures and post it to the shop on Monday.

I’m really excited about this piece. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right images to highlight the key points in the story while also making it beautiful and interesting to look at. I hope I succeeded. I guess I’ll know I did if it sells.

I have been craving a good thrift store jaunt. I may try and do that next week. Or maybe I’ll sneak off this weekend; there is one by the boyfriend’s house I’ve wanted to check out. Who knows what kind of new inspiration I may find.

Cloudy sky, cloudy concept

I've been working on the Angela Carter shadow box but it's one of those projects that I keep second guessing myself on.  I get all the images laid out how I want them then I decide something doesn't look right or I need more here and I still haven't started gluing anything down.  Maybe tomorrow will be a more decisive day.  And hopefully not a rainy day so I will be able to go outside and work.

Life and other stuff

Got back from the road trip, had a fabulous time. I didn't get to take many pictures but I enjoyed the company and had fun torturing the boyfriend by singing most of the trip. ;)

Tried to get back to work this week but had some other stuff come up to keep me from jumping back in. Finally got into the groove today and finished up two new items. And I got a good start on the Angela Carter shadow box. Next week I should be able to finish it. Here are the completed items.

Road Trip!

I haven't been able to work on the Angela Carter inspired shadow box. I came down with a horrible cold that pretty much kept me from doing anything till yesterday and I'm leaving tomorrow for a road trip with the boyfriend (WOO HOO!!!)

I did make my first international sale this week though.

When I come back I will hopefully have some cool pictures and be ready to jump in and start creating. I have to start making items for the Bat's Day Black Market too. It will sneak up on me before I know it!

Skulls, Pearls and other things...

I finished two new items today!  One was a repurposed frame that I got at a thrift store.  I gave it a bit of Victorian Gothic flair.

And even though spring is still almost two months away I felt the urge to create a little Spring time for the walls.  So I made this plaque.

I'm also working on a shadow box inspired by Angela Carter's story "The Lady of the House of Love.” It's one of those pieces where I'm having way too much fun working on it. It encompasses some of my favorite themes; castles, vampires, fairy tales, and just so much great imagery to work with.

A good month

January has been my most successful month so far for my Etsy store. I sold everything I listed for the month. Granted I only listed five items but for me that was a success. And definite motivation to list more items in February.

I've already got a few new ideas that I can't wait to try out. And I want to spend some time this month working on how to make my pictures look better. I found a site to make a simple box studio to take pictures and control the light.

Going to try and make 2010 the year I turn my hobbies and crafts into something more!
